copy update.zip file to your sdcard's root directory then boot into recovery mode (hold power, volume up, home button together) then chooses apply update.zip from sdcard

Reboot your phone, voila... its rooted now

2 Battery Indicator Ubuntu 11.10

I upgraded my Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10. The first few days i was totally disappointed because a lot of the stuff/functionality i'm accustomed to somewhat change in 11.10. The major stuff that bugged me the whole time was i have 2 battery indicator.

I tried a lot of stuff to remove it and almost bonk my system trying. Finally i was able to remove one of the battery indicator. I remembered when i installed 11.04 i re-enabled notification area (systray) by whitelisting all application. So what i did was change whitelist from "all" back to default. Now i only have 1 battery indicator showing up which is what i really want.

Updated: Setting Up Netfirms' Domain Name with Blogger's Custom Domain

Netfirms upgraded its hosting platform rendering my old How-to obsolete. So here is my updated how-to on setting up Netfirms' domain name with Blogger's custom domain.

1. Login to your Control Panel

2. Go to Domains > Domain Central

3. To configure your domain name click on the “+” button next to the domain you wish to use

4. To enter your CNAME Alias and A Record click on the DNS

5. From the drop down menu select "CNAME Alias"

6. Enter www as your Host Name and ghs.google.com as your "Points To:"

7. Select "A Record" from the drop down menu

8. Add the following IP addresses

216.239.36.21

216.239.34.21

216.239.38.21

216.239.32.21

9. Click on Subdomains

10. add WWW as your subdomain

And that's it. Like always it usually takes up to 24 to 72 hours for the domain name to propagate.

Setting Mime-Types Using Google Code and RapidSVN

I am using Google Code to store some files needed by my blogs. Storing files in Google Code isn't as straight forward as uploading file then hotlinking to the said files. For one thing files uploaded to Google Code is automatically served as a text-plain mime-type. Simply put HTML would simply be just plain text as well as images, and CSS. By Googling i was able to find a site that has the answer on how to store file with the correct mime-type. The site is TechPortal.in. If your using windows you should follow their guide from registering to Google Code and creating a new project. to configuring and using TortoiseSVN to upload files.

Since i'm using Ubuntu/Linux my SVN client is RapidSVN. In order to set the proper mime-type you have to edit subversion's config file using whatever text editor you like mine is gEdit. You can find the config file by going to your home and look for your .subversion folder.

Using gEdit paste the following text at the very end of the file and save the file. Hopefully everything will work out fine.

MMSH Not Working

I listen to a lot of internet base radio especially Accuradio. But when i want to listen to local radio stations i go to eRadioPortal.com. But it seems MMSH Streaming is broken for Ubuntu 10.10.

Since i need eRadioPortal to work so that my mom can listen to her favorite radio station while IM'ing her friends. I was able to work MMSH streaming using VLC. You have to dig into the source code to look for the MMSH streaming URL. As an example below, the URL is was looking for is located inside the object tag (sometimes its in the embed tag).

Once you have URL you just need to fire up VLC click on Media and select Open Network Stream. Enter the Url and voila! You now have eRadio.

Ubuntu Recovery from a Bad Update

The other night my brother came home from work and gave me his laptop told me he kinda busted his Ubuntu. I ask him what happened and he told me he was updating his system via update manager when all of sudden his laptop died. When he rebooted he was able to login but once inside lots of stuff were missing like USB ports are not detected, Sound was missing. One of the most important applet was also missing, the network manager was gone!To make the long story short i was able to fix the problem using Ubuntu's recovery mode

Once inside recovery mode i selected Repair Broken Packages and after a couple of minutes voila everything is back to normal.

I told my brother to make sure your laptop is plugged in when updating your system and never never never with a battery even if its fully charge.

I have been using portable apps for quite sometime now ever since i discovered www.portableapps.com. I have been using Portableapps' Firefox 4 portable for quite sometime now. Aside from firefox here are some of the applications i use:

An alterntive to Portableapps.com is Portablefreeware.com. Couple of days ago i discovered that there is also a linux version of Portableapps.com and its call Portablelinuxapps.org. Currently using Portablelinuxapps' Portable SMPlayer thats the only application i'm using right now. Using portable apps in linux reminds me of Klik when i was still using Knoppix.

APTonCD Load Button Not Working

One of my favorite apps in Linux is APTonCD. APTonCD is a tool with a graphical interface which allows you to create one or more CDs or DVDs (you choose the type of media) with all of the packages you've downloaded via APT-GET or APTITUDE, creating a removable repository that you can use on other computers. APTonCD will also allow you to automatically create media with all of your .deb packages located in one especific repository, so that you can install them into your computers without the need for an internet connection. As qouted from its official website aptoncd.sourceforge.net.

I'm using APTonCD in Ubuntu 10.10. My problem is the APTonCD version that is available thru the Ubuntu Software Center is broken. You can backup APT packages but you can't restore it. Downloading the latest file from the website is futile since the download page has "the project has no file" in it. Search high and low for the answer but couldn't find one. So i did the next best thing and that is download an older version. APTonCD's website is a no go since there isn't a file to be found old or new. So i search google using "index of aptoncd" as the keyword and voila found some directories containing old vesions of APTonCD. I used securehost.com/mirror/debian/pool/main/a/aptoncd and downloaded aptoncd_0.1-1.2_all.deb. Installed it without a hitch, fired up the application and it work on Ubuntu 10.10 perfectly. I was able to load and restore 400mb worth of updates.

Now I do hope they fix the current APTonCD but until then i'm sticking with the old one.

Brandless Notebook from China

I got this notebook as a present of sort from a friend who bought a bunch of these Chinese notebook for his business. He gave me one and told me if i fix it its mine. So after the Christmas rush, after sending out the last orders from my online store i went about fixing this thing. The problem was very simple the power cord/charger needs replacing. Since this is a brandless notebook i couldn't find the supplier here to replace the charger. So the next best thing to do is get a charger from a different brand with the same specs. I was able to find a HP charger with the same specs and now i am able to charge and turn on the notebook... yey! At first the OS didn't load but a couple more tinkering with the BIOS i was able to load the Chinese version of windows XP. And since i don't know Chinese i nuke the OS and installed Ubuntu 10.10. Now i have a new notebook. The only thing to gripe about is the measly 2 cell battery that i can't replace. But hey its a free notebook who am i to complain. :)

Setting Up Netfirms' Domain Name with Blogger's Custom Domain

I bought a domain name from Netfirms a couple of weeks ago i must say they have one of the cheapest domains out there. I Googled for infos on how to setup the domain with Blogger's custom domain and what i found was a bit lacking. So i decided to make a complete guide on how to do it. Hope this helps. :)

1.Login to your NetFirms Control panel

2.Go to Domains > Domain Manager settings

3.To configure your A Record click on the “+” button next to the domain you wish to use

4.Click the "A Record" check box and add the following IP addresses.

216.239.36.21

216.239.32.21

5.Click on add.

6.To configure your CNAME record. Click the Sub-domain tab

Enter your sub domain name as www

Click the "CNAME" check box, Enter ghs.google.com as your Host Name

These usually takes up to 24 to 72 hours for the domain name to propagate. With my experience it only took an hour to propagate.

For those who don't know how to setup Blogger's Custom Domain here is a quick guide on how to do it.

1. Login to your Blogger account select blog you want to use with your Domain.

2. Click on Settings > Publishing > Switch to: Custom Domain

3. Blogger is going to ask to "Buy a domain for your blog" but we already have one so just click on "Switch to advance settings"

4. Enter your Domain Name then Save Settings.

5. Lastly, After saving a check box for redirect will appear. Click the check box to redirect YourDomain to www.YourDomain.com then save settings.

and.... your done.

Working on 3 Online Stores and Me Having Conjunctivitis

I'm on medical leave for the past 10 days due to conjunctivitis which i incidently gave to my brother and mom. Good job ahole! Since I'm stuck at home i got to work on 3 online store. Two for the company i

work for and 1 for my brother. I started using OpenCart for one of the online store and I must say i really really like it a lot. Everything is easy with Opencart from uploading products, uploading images, inventory, APIs, everything is easy.

The 2nd online store is quite the opposite of Opencart i'm building it from scratch doin it the old school way with Notepad++ and Adobe DreamWeaver. It freakin tiring!

The third one i'm using blogger's blog again as a platform for my online store. I just love doing this is like having a free hosting hehehe. With Bloggers new features using it as an online store is a whole lot easier than encoding it by hand. Its not perfect but hey its free.

March last year i was playing around with Crafty Cart – a free theme for WordPress e-Commerce store created by Billion Studio especially for King Cart.

I Started porting it to blogger around summer last year but wasn't able to finish it due to tons of work in the office. Also i later found out the somebody already ported it to blogger. You can checkout Beta Templates blogger version of Crafty Cart here.

Couple of weeks ago experimented with Dot.Tk free DNS service. Using Dot.Tk's free DNS i was able to use Blogger's custom domain and create an online store. Ever since i started allowing credit card purchase without an account fraudulent transaction has increase. I'm just lucky i was able to caught it before i started the process of sending the items. My gripes is with the credit card processor they keep on telling me the orders passed their fraud department but later on they'll tell me that the order was a fraud(GOOD JOB NITWITS).

Running Globe's Unlimail and eBuddy's Mobile Instant Messenger on a Non Supported Phone

I use this method whenever i want to try some Java MIDP applications on my old LG KU250 mobile phone. A brief description of Unlimail is that its a push email application made by Emoze for Globe Telecom and it runs on Symbian and Java MIDP capable phones. It can access multiple email such as GMail, Yahoo! Mail and MSN among other things.

First off we will need Mozilla Firefox and 2 Firefox addon namely WML Browser to simulate WAP browsing and User Agent Switcher. To download the Unlimail application you will need to use a user agent that is close to your phone. In my case i'm using a 3 year old LG KU250 which they say is not supported so i choose to use a Nokia 3120 user agent. Once your user agent is set you can now go to the WAP site and download the application to your computer. When finish downloading from the WAP site you can now download it to your phone whether by cable, bluetooth or via card reader and install it and hopefully it will run.

With this method you can also download eBuddy's Mobile Instant Messenger. Proceed to eBuddy's mobile webpage get.ebuddy.com choose you phone model or for a non supported phone the closes to your model. I choose LG KU380 since my KU250 is not supported. Download the eBuddy application, install it and your done.

For those who frequent this blog ( yes the 3 of you) i just did a makeover for this blog. I have to replace my old template because i tried to spruce it up a bit but i was a total failure. The look that i wanted didn't match "simpla" simple design so i ended changing the whole look. I didn't create this template all because i don't have enough braincell to start from scratch so i got one from Blaganol and found this gem of a template. Its called Woothemes News Magazine Theme for Blogger designed by Woothemes and converted into blogger by Deineshd. Its a very clean design and its a news magazine style template which are popular these days. There are still some element that are missing here and there but i will be adding them in the next couple of days. Other than that everything stays the same. :)

Getting Stressed Out With Paypal

Been updating one of my online store that specifically uses Paypal. Adding couple of new products and a little bit of tweaking the site. Then early this morning i got an email from Paypal stating a Notification for Limited Account Access. Why? well because my account was accessed by a third party. Who? What? access my account? reading this my blood pressure rose to level i don't regularly get. Havig a limited account access basically means i can't get my money until i resolve this issue.

Anyway i just change my password and send them some documents which is a no biggie but receiving email like that just really stresses my out.

Update: PayPal Account Access Has Been Restored. This never happens with my 2CO account.

Me Making Money Online

I haven't been able to return to my day job because i have to take care of my mom who had a stroke a couple months ago. I'm just thankful that i still make money via the internet. I just wanted to share how i make money online.

1st Google Adsense, if you want to make money by blogging this is a must. Income is steady provided you have good content and lots and lots of visitors.

2nd Text Links Ads, this one at first i thought it wasn't worth it to put it on my blogs but once the advertiser came in; now i'm earning monthly regularly.

3rd Chitika this one pays out regularly but not that much but it adds to the piggy bank.

and lastly

Running an online store. I have at least 3 online store on my own. One with its own domain which is www.SendRegalo.com and the other two on Multiply.com and Facebook.com(via Payvement). Now this is my bread and butter. My day job revolves around online stores been doin this for 6 years and so 3 years ago i setup my own online store. And i'm lucky to have a boss who allows me to use company resources for my own business.

So that's how i make money online but this is not all of it. I have other ways but that's for another posting.

Ubuntu 9.10 + Nvidia Driver = Black Screen of Death

I got this howto from brainyautomation.com last year. This is what i used whenever i reinstall Ubuntu on my Dell laptop. This still works even for Ubuntu 9.10 (for my laptop that is).

reboot and select the "recovery mode" kernel and then do this or if your like me i removed my boot screen so a recovery mode is out of the question. What you do is start ubuntu up to the blank screen. press ctrl + shift F4 or any F keys except F7. you will be prompted to enter your login and password and once logged in do the steps below:

nano -w /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-kernel-nkc

# add this to the end of the file options nvidia NVreg_SoftEDIDs=0 NVreg_Mobile=0

save file and then reboot and your done. hope this helps

Remind Myself Edition: Remember Authentication Mounted Drive in Ubuntu 9.10

It seems authentication for mounted drive isn't the same as before. Old version let you save the authentication for a mounted drive. In Karmic there is none, dunno why they removed it. Anyhoot luckily somebody posted a howto on the said topic.

Open terminal and type the following:

sudo gedit /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.devicekit.disks.policy

Look for the action id:

org.freedesktop.devicekit.disks.filesystem-mount-system-internal

Within that action id look for the line:

<allow_active>auth_admin_keep</allow_active>

and replace it with:

<allow_active>yes</allow_active>

save file and your done.

Remind Myself Edition: Disable Ubuntu's Annoying Update Manager Popup

I just installed the latest version of Ubuntu which is 9.10 Karmic Koala. Everything installed correctly but there is this one big annoyance and that is the update manager which continously popup even though i minimize it and stuff. I have to google for the answer on how to stop it. This post is just basically to remind me on how to disable the popup.

Open gconf-editor via Terminal, browse down to Apps -> Update Notifier, and uncheck the auto_launch option to stop Update Manager from popping-up.

Gmail has SMS messaging via chat available since last year but it's only limited to US phones only. There is another way to send SMS in gmail by using a web service called Chikka.com. Using Chikka you can send free text to mobile subscribers in the following countries: United States, Philippines, Guam, India, Hong Kong (Smart 1528 only), United Kingdom, Spain, Indonesia (XLcom only), Saipan and Italy.

Now let's get started.

First off you will need to login to your Gmail account, once you have login start by clicking on "Contacts" then add new contacts. On the name field enter the name of the person you would like to text and on the email field you should enter the following detail using this format Country code + CellphoneNumber + @chikkatalk.com. example: 639068888888@chikkatalk.com. Click save and your done.

An added bonus if you added your Gmail/Googletalk account to Meebo.com you will now be able to send Text messsages using Meebo and that also goes for Pidgin(the multi-platform IM client) too.

I've been playing Mafia Wars on Facebook for almost 2 weeks now and i'm quite addicted to it. Searching tips and guide gave me tons of info on how to play the game. I found out that there are autoplayers for the game. You can go to userscripts.org search for mafia wars and what you will find are smorgasborg autoplayer scripts for you to automate your game. By the way this is cheating and you can get ban for using these scripts.

In order for the scripts to work you need to install greasemonkey add-on for Firefox from there you can run the mafia wars script you selected.
Personally i don't like using greasemonkey thats why when i find useful script such as StevenD's Mafia Wars Autoplayer script i try to convert/compile them to a firefox extension by using Arantius.com script compiler .

Here is how i did it :

1. get the source code of the script you want to use
2. go to http://arantius.com/misc/greasemonkey/script-compiler
3. insert detail and paste the source code then compile
4. save the xpi file
5. drag and drop the xpi file to your firefox browser

StevenD's Mafia Wars Autoplayer has lots of options but i don't use all of it. I only use auto heal, protect property and auto bank.

Feeling Dumb

I just feel like a dumbass today. A customer bought a Logitech Quickcam Chat for Skype a couple of days ago and she complained that the webcam/quickcam doesnt work. So we had our foot soldier retrieve the said item. Before sending the item to our supplier i tried to check first if she's telling the truth. I hooked it up to my laptop installed the driver which i have to download it first because she forgot to put the cd inside box. Once the driver was installed and the quickcam applications running all you can see was a blurred image. I messed around with the setting with no luck. I thought maybe i need to update the drivers so i did that and still no luck. But i wasn't giving up yet, i figured maybe my laptop is the problem(i know thats why i'm feeling dumb) so i installed the driver to another computer updated drivers and it still blurry. Then i got another stupid idea maybe it will run if i installed Skype, maybe it was meant to run on Skype only. So i Downloaded Skype installed it and still with the same result, blurry images.

This time i totally given-up. I figured it must be a lens problem. So i went to our supplier gave him the quickcam. He set it up on his computer to check on it and like before its still blurry. Then he ask me if i tried adjusting the focus ring... then it hit me like a train.. FOCUS RING!!!! WTF why didn't i thought of that!!! it was just out of focus thats why it's blurry.

The good news is our customer was happy because it wasn't really broken cause all the while she thought that she might have broken it in her haste to use it.

How To Remove A Magnetic Security Tag

I was surfing the world wide web when I found this very helpful How to for removing a Magnetic Security Tag. This would have been handy for me last Christmas werein the bag i bought has its magnetic tag still attached to the bag. I have to go back to the store which is a 3 hour drive from where i lived and the traffic was such PITA!

To remove the tag you just need to get a very powerful magnet. The easiest way to get these magnets is from your computer's Hard Drive. When I say Hard Drives I mean busted hard drives not the ones your using right now. You can go to a computer repair shop and buy them non-working hard disk or if your a good actor/actress ask for one for free. A warning though; make sure to keep your ATM cards and Credit cards away from the magnets as the magnets will definitely erase any data stored in your cards.

Once you have the magnet it's just a matter of making the magnet touch the security tag as shown in the images below and voila the tag is removed.

I have been using Google products service for quite some time now and I just realize that everything I do revolves around them. For instance last night I found out that one of my Yahoo email account (I got 2 yahoo mail) has POP3 access. So what did i do? I went to my Gmail account and set it up to access my Yahoo Mail. This got me thinking, I realize that every time i get a POP3 or IMAP access I instinctively setup my Gmail to access them. If they don't have POP2 or IMAP i set them up to filter and foward to my gmail. Even my Mom's email is forwarded to my email.

I used Google Reader a lot as in I check on it like 100x a day. I like it so much that it kinda ruin net surfing for me. I don't get to see websites anymore, I wouldn't know if a sites updates it looks unless I get to read it from their RSS feed. I used to visit Lifehacker.com or Downloadsquad everyday but when I learned how to use Google Reader I don't get to visit their site anymore unless i'm looking for a specific info.

Other Google service that i used often:

Google Maps. Maps is very helpful when I need to send out our in-house messenger to deliver some item to our customers.

Picasa/Picasaweb perfect software to organize my photos store online. Oh and its also available for Linux.

Google Apps for managing domains. I like it a lot because I get to use a very familiar interface when accessing email which is gmail. I don't get to worry about setting up email client because you can access it via the web. No more "AHHH I FORGOT TO BACKUP MY EMAIL" scenarios for me.

Google Docs spreadsheet is what I usually used.. I do a lot of product listing and price computation for our company.Very handy for times I need to check item inventory and i'm outside without my laptop.

Blogger.com, Youtube.com, Calendar, Web Search and especially Adsense these are other service I can't live without. No need to explain here.

Of course i'm just exaggerating the "I can't live without it" part.

What have i been doing?

Wow its been a while since i last posted here kinda been busy with work and all. February was a frakkin doozy, Valentines week was fun and tiring at the same time. We got tons of orders and we only got a handful of complaints.

But after the controlled chaos that was valentines day i got sick and also my family. We bought food from three restaurant to celebrate a belated valentines day. The following day i got a major case of diarrhea or diarrhoea (which ever spelling you prefer) i was practically in the bathroom the whole frakkin day. My mom and two brothers got sick too. I wasn't able to go to work for 3 or 4 days.

What else have i been doin? Aside from the usual uploading of new products to sell online, i am also creating a website, an online store again but this time i am doing it the old school way. I'm talking pure html and css code via notepad. No fancy smancy CMS. I feel like I'm in highschool again hehehe. Why am i doing it you may ask? Well the boss wants me to do it for the sake of SEO and stuff, who am i to argue. But honestly doing the site is lots of fun.

What else... I was surfing the net for a e-commerce plugin for wordpress when i found craftycart it was exaactly what i needed. It was nice but my boss wanted me to use pure html so i have to put it in the back burner for a while. Using craftycart for a while got me thinking, can i create an online store using blooger. The answer was yes. So i made one using paypal, you can see my experiment here. Did some blogger tricks to make it look that way. One of the tricks or tips i used was using the conditional tags and Blogger buster's article on conditional tags "Display Elements only on Home, Item or Archive Pages in Blogger" was a big help. Right now I'm thinking of porting CraftyCart template to blogger and use simpleCart(js) + paypal as it's shopping cart. That is if i can make some time for it.

I have been using Dot TK for 3 to 4 years now. There are times that the service is slow and sometimes unreliable. There are also pop-up ads and frame ads . The .cc is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Cocos (Keeling) Islands, an Australian territory. CO.CC is just the Administrator and Operator of CO.CC domain name.

Tonight i was trying to update one of my blogs template hosted on blogger.com. What i got was a whole bunch of errors trying to update template(error bX-bjtplu). As usual i googled for some answer and what i got from google was to delete the widgets which i tried and failed.

Clicking "Confirm & Save" to delete the widgets gave me another error, i'm not really sure but i thinks this is the error code i get when trying to delete the widget "bX-9ls7v4". Going to the page element tab to delete the widget manually doesn't help either cause you can't see all of the widgets. Blogger says it there also if you look at the "Edit HTML" you can see all of the widgets but it doesn't show up on the page element tab. hmmm... odd isn't it?

The way i got to solving this mess is by doing the following:

1. Go to "Pick New Template Tab"

2. Select a template (basically just use Minima) and save

3. Click the "Page Element Tab" and now you will be able to see all your widgets including those wayward widget.

4. And now for the hard part... Click edit and once the widget opens up click remove.

5. When your done removing the widgets you can now upload your new template.

This is how i got to solve my problem. I hope this helps.

DNS-DIY for Google Apps and Blogger

Last month i moved one of my sites to blogger using its custom domain feature and everything was fine until i realize i forgot to setup the email. So i registered for a free google app account to move my email to google mail. Followed their instructions and now everything is fine.

Firefox + Simple Mail + GMail + YPops!

I like gmail and when i say i like gmail i really really mean it! I check my email everyday, every few minutes. So when then news about Gmail security flaws (which where later rebutted by the GMail team) i got somewhat scared... ok i was really really frightened by it. So what i did was i returned to using email clients. I figured that by using email clients it would lessen the chance of a malicious site inserting its filter on my precious gmail account.

I just wanted a simple email client, I don't need those hulking email clients like Thunderbird. Then i remembered reading about a firefox extension that acts as a email client. It's called Simple Mail from the name itself it is a very simple client so don't expect to much from it. Simple mail can access Pop and Imap accounts. It can notify you of new messages. It has an address book. Its three-paned view layout is again pretty simple. Setting it up to access gmail is pretty straight forward.

Since i'm using simple mail now to access my email i might as well read my yahoomail through simple mail. In order to do this i have to download and install YPops!. What is Ypops!? "YPops is more like a gateway. It provides a POP3 server interface at one end to talk to email clients and an HTTP client (browser) interface at the other which allows it to talk to Yahoo! The same concept holds good for SMTP as well."

Once installed, setup simple mail to access YPops and your done.

DNS-DIY + ONLINENIC + BLOGGER

Couple of days ago i moved one of my domain to Blogger.com so that i can try out blogger/google's custom domain. So first off you must create a Canonical Name or CNAME which is very important. You can go to blogger's help page to find out how to setup custom domains and instruction on how to create CNAME for common registrar.

If your registrar is Onlinenic which uses DNS_DIY then your SOL because there is no instruction for you to follow... until now :D

So let start

1. Log in to your account at DNS-DIY
2. If it's not already selected, click Zone Edit.
3. Under Host enter only the subdomain you want to use. For example, if you picked www.mydomain.com as your blog's address, just enter www as the entry under Host.
4. Under Type select CNAME from the dropdown menu.
5. Enter ghs.google.com under Data.
6. Leave Priority and TTL as is.
7. Click APPEND

8. Next is to make sure the domain name server is pointing to DNS-DIY's DNS server. To do this click Loookup if its Correct then your done, you'll just have to wait for 24 to 48 hours for it to propagate. Now if it fails then we have to go to ONLINENIC to change the DNS Server.

9. Log in to your account at ONLINENIC
10. Type ns1.dns-diy.net for DNS1 and ns2.dns-diy.net DNS2

11. Click Modify
12. Follow no. 8 instructions to test if its working you can also do a NS Lookup. Google nslookup and click anyone of them ex. Kloth.net,
If it still doesn't work then contact your Domain hosting and ask for help.

**UPDATE**

Regarding SysOp's question about using Google's IP addresses. Yes, nowadays you should put the following IP address in your DNSDIY configuration.

216.239.32.21

216.239.36.21
216.239.38.21

To do this you must create an "A" Name/Type for each IP Address as shown in the example below.

Filezilla Password Recover

I use Filezilla extensively using both Linux and windows versions. Recently i needed to recover a password for an FTP account i haven't used for quite sometime now.

Normally this wouldn't be a problem if your using Filezilla 3 as this version no longer uses encryption. Just export your settings and opening up the XML file with your favorite text editor and it will show you your password as clear as day. I could just import the old xml file but i don't want to mess up my site manager for just 1 account like what happened to me before.

Searching for a password recovery tool for Filezilla showed me a bunch of windows only and not free applications. I found one free application FileZilla Password Recover but again its for windows only but its just over 150kb so what the heck i downloaded it run it through wine, paste in the password hash from the old XML file and voila! it worked! It's as simple as that.

Connect to the Internet using LG KU250 3G Mobile Phone via Bluetooth

I use my LG KU250 to connect to the internet using a USB cable. But this time I wanted to try connecting via Bluetooth. I googled for instruction on doing this and I found this blog post from Tony Seno. I was able to connect to the Internet with a little tweaks so as to make it work with my phone, ubuntu hardy heron and Globe Telecom my network provider.

Required Software
Already installed in Ubuntu Hardy Heron : bluetooth & wvdial
Additional : gnome-ppp
install via menu
goto applications > add/remove... > search for GNOME PPP
install via command line

sudo apt-get install gnome-ppp

Pairing with LG KU250
sudo gedit /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf
change on options : set security auto

Restart Bluetooth
sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth restart

Pair with LG KU250
discover LG KU250 MAC address :
hcitool scan

Mouse drift on a Dell laptop

I installed Ubuntu Hardy Heron on a Dell C840 laptop for the first few days my mouse keep sticking to the sides. I had this same problem when running XP but i can disable the trackpad via control panel and via going into BIOS to stop the drifting. In Ubuntu i tried disabling it via System > Preferences > Touchpad but it didn't work. I also installed the Synaptics Driver for the touchpad but still no go.

I was about to give up when then it hit me, going into the BIOS, under pointing device the setting should be "PS/2-Touchpad" to "PS/2". This disables the trackpad and the trackpoint when a PS/2 mouse is plugged... the key word here is the "PS/2 mouse" and at that time i was using a USB mouse. So i change my mouse to a PS/2 mouse and voila! the drifting is gone. I'm not really sure if this is the cure for this problem but it worked for me.

Finally if it still doesn't work for you then i suggest you go to gimbo.org.uk and read his post on Fixing mouse drift on a Dell Latitude C600 with a Sledgehammer.

A linux magazine cd wherein i get to try mozilla 0.9 and gnome 1.4(using slackware).

Next is Corel linux which is Debian base and uses KDE. I used this for quite some time before shifting to Lycoris Desktop/LX

BeOS this one is just something i wanted to try out after hearing it from one of leo laporte show(not sure if its call for help or the screensavers).

I'll post some more pics especially linux cds that i used through the years.

APTonCD is the one program that i can't live without. It backs up all downloaded applications and dependencies from apt-get/synaptic and burn them into a CD, DVD or just a plain old ISO that APTonCd can mount. This is perfect for when you need to update multiple computers with just one CD or DVD without them downloading update via the internet.

Install it via Applications > Add/Remove and type APTonCD on the search bar.

You can download it via the terminal by typing:

sudo apt-get install aptoncd

I have been watching some 3gp videos using my LG KU250 cellphone and i decided to convert some of my wmv and mpeg movies to 3gp. So i search the net for a good converter and i found lots of junk but among the junk i found this gem, Miksoft Mobile Media Converter. Its does what its suppose to do perfectly. I have converted a bunch of wmv videos to 3gp and it ran flawlessly. Here's the description from the developer:

I'm a jealous type of guy, last week i got jealous because my boss has "spaces " installed on his mac and so i Googled and got Virtuawin. Now i'm jealous of his mac because it's running parallels with Windows Vista as his guest and i said to myself I want one too!!! And so with the help of the mighty google i found a bunch of virtualization software and tried them. I tried VMware, Qemu and Virtualbox. Among the three i really like Virtualbox, I like it because its not that big of a download its around 16.9mb compared to VMware's 100+mb and its user friendly.

What is Virtualbox? Virtualbox is a hardware emulation virtualization software(say that 10x faster), by mapping the host computer’s hardware resources directly to the virtual machine’s resources, it creates a virtual copy of your computer. With this virtual machine you can install and run different operating system within your host computer.

I'm currently running Virtualbox on an Windows XP (XP being the host) and gOS Linux as guest. Everything works out of the box. :)

I'm a linux user since wayback. One of the things i like to use in linux is the virtual desktop because i like switching from one desktop to another basically to hide NSFW stuff. :D

A couple of weeks ago my boss showed me is his brand new os x leopard and all its features and the one thing that caught me is "spaces" which kinda look familiar oh wait i know its the same as virtual desktop on linux except it has a better name. So i figured i want one on my office laptop which sad to say is running windows xp. I googled for some virtual desktop software for windows and i found this wonderful piece of an open-source software named VirtuaWin. its just a simple program that sit on your systray and does its job pretty well. But what does its really do? well here's a quote from the official site of VirtuaWin:

A virtual desktop manager lets you organize applications over several virtual desktops (also called 'workspaces'). Virtual desktops are very common in Unix/Linux, and once you get accustomed to using them, they become an essential part of a productive workflow.

My 2007 Christmas Wish List

This is a list of items i want for Christmas. Currently there are only 2 at the moment but this list will grow as Christmas gets nearer and nearer. There is a slim chance to nil of getting these items but hey its just a wish list anyway! :D

Second i want to have the trade paperback issue of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Long Way Home TPB. This is the 1st five issue of Joss Whedon's season 8 of the show that is only available in comic.

Everything you know about social networking is thrown out the window cause what you'll find here is quite the opposite. Remember the albums or galleries of your friends well in Hatebook they have "Hate Albums" where pictures and descriptions of everything you hate is listed.. weird huh? Skins for DScaler

A couple of years ago i made some skins for a program named dscaler. DScaler is the program i used for watching Television on my PC.
